Future Focused Partnerships

The theme of the conference, Future Focused Partnerships, reflects the need for enterprises, industry stakeholders and governments to form partnerships and develop a clear workforce planning and development blue print to grow and maintain a highly skilled and credentialed workforce.  The changing economic times and industry response meant this conference came at a crucial time for our industry.

The Hon Martin Ferguson AM MP, Minister for Resources and Energy, Minister for Tourism, officially opened the event and launched the new nationally endorsed RII09 Resources and Infrasturcture Industry Training Package.

On the day Michael Pascoe, mining economics commentator, introduced an extensive list of industry leaders who presented papers and answered delegates' questions on the day. Leading presenters included international speaker,Patrick Conway - Director Social Inclusion (Ireland); John Smith - Vice President, HR Resourcing and Development, BHP Billiton; Keith Spence - Member, Skills Australia; Warren Mundine - CEO, NTSCORP; Trevor Gosatti - Managing Director, Vortex Pipes Ltd; Leigh Beck - Training Manager (Australia and New Zealand), Boart Longyear Drilling. The conference dinner was attended by a capacity list of delegates in the Grand Ballroom.
